Antenova recommends ground co-planar waveguides because they make it easy to mount active devices on top of a circuit.

Microstrips isolate the feed completely and have no ground adjacent to the feed.

Microstrips are particularly not suitable for high-frequency applications or within compact PCB designs and miniaturized designs. This is because due to dielectric and conductor losses, they have relatively low efficiency.
