Ground plane connections for M20047-1
Hi,

I read on your website layout recommendations to tie the upper and inner ground planes together with many vias. I have an 8 layer board with ground planes on L2 and L7, is there any reason not to tie these two ground planes together? There are also partially poured ground planes on all the layers including the bottom; okay to tie all these together?

Hi Jmccall,

Yes, it is ok to tie all the ground layers together so long as there is no noise propagating on them as the GPS signal is very low and would be affected by in band noise.

Please ensure that the area directly below the antenna is cleared of all copper through all layers of the board.

Best regards,

Geoff S.
