2 layer vs 4 layer for SR4L002
Would like to know if 2 layer board is OK for SR4L002 and if so what guidelines are applicable.  This versus a 4 layer board with full ground plane.

Hello Stantangeman,

Two layer boards will work but are not recommended due to the device circuitry tending to cut the ground into small sections. Antennas like to operate against a solid ground plane 100mm long or longer. If you can ensure at least 5 to 10mm of uninterrupted ground plane from the antenna to the bottom of the device down the left and right sides with at least 10 to 15mm of solid ground between the antenna and the modem the 2 layer board should work.
Be sure to ensure the antenna feed trace is 50 ohms with the proper board clearances between the trace and ground.

Geoff S.
