Hi everyone,
I have designed a custom PCB using the u-blox MAX-M10S GNSS module and an Antenova M20047-1 active antenna. I am looking for advice on troubleshooting the RF implementation.
The Problem: When I connect an external active antenna to the board (bypassing the onboard antenna path), the MAX-M10S works perfectly and acquires a fix immediately. However, when I try to use the onboard M20047-1 antenna, I receive absolutely no signal/data.
Circuit Details (referring to the attached schematic):
Module: u-blox MAX-M10S-00B.
Antenna: M20047-1 (Active Antenna).
RF Path: The antenna output (Pin 1) goes through a matching network (L13, R113, C186) and connects to the MAX-M10S RF_IN pin.
Power: The antenna is powered via
VDD_GPS_ENB_3V3through inductor L9.Connection: There is a junction at J7 (U.FL connector) used for testing external antennas.
What I have checked:
The MAX-M10S module itself is functional (verified with external antenna).
The power rail (
VDD_GPS_ENB_3V3) is active and stable.
My Questions:
Could there be an impedance mismatch in the passive components (R113, C186, R136) blocking the signal?
Is the schematic implementation of the M20047-1 correct regarding the biasing/power injection?
Looking at the schematic, do you see any obvious errors in the RF path between the antenna and the module?
Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
