QUESTION

Smallest pcb size for LTE and GNSS antennas, with decent RF performance
Hi,

I'm currently working on a bird monitoring system. The device gathers GPS data at a fixed interval and then transmits data to a server via LTE.

We have selected the nRF91 SiP from Nordic Semi as the main processor & modem.

The frequency ranges are  :

- LTE : 698 - 960 MHz & 1710 - 2200 MHz

- GNSS : 1565 - 1586 MHz

We are currently searching for an antenna solution. Given the nature of the device, we need it to be as small as possible and as light as possible, while having good enough RF performance for more rural parts of Europe, and keeping its cost low for volume production. Do you have antenna(s) that could be recommended ?
Also, what would be the minimum ground plane surface for the antennas you propose ?
Thanks !

Hi,

For LTE you can use our FPC antennas such as Mitis or Moseni, which will be stuck onto the interior of the enclosure

For GNSS, Agosti would be recommended. The ground plane of our Agosti evaluation board is 70x25mm.
