QUESTION

asked by
SR4G013 Efficiency and PCB Dimensions
Hello,

We are designing a board that is roughly 45x45mm with GNSS and BLE. The design is quite high density and there is not much room for component/ground keepouts. Additionally, the board will be mounted on a diecast metal housing with little to no standoff and the ideal antenna location as far as the rest of the design goes is on a corner of the board.

These combined design constraints make the SR4G013 appear to be a good fit, however we are concerned about the PCB size. It was noted that the test PCB in the datasheet of the SR4G013 is still 71mm long. Is the SR4G013 similar to the SR4G008 and chip antennas wherein it uses the PCB copper to form a resonator? And if so, what kind of efficiency could we expect with the proposed configuration. Does Antenova have any suggestions for other antenna or design options?

Thank you,
Christian

Hi Cbraun,

Would you be able to send me the Step files to check the antenna placement and its surroundings. So I can create a mock up of your board to test.

I will contact you by email.
