QUESTION

asked by
How far does one of the 2.4GHz flex antennas need to be over / away from the PCB?
This is for a PCB body worn device.  I would like to get the antenna a far away from the body and PCB as possible.  Placing it on the inside top of the enclosure. The enclosure may be the size as a deck of cards but about half the thickness.

Thank you.

Hi Josiah,

Ideallly there should be atleast 15mm from PCB to antenna in same orientation as shown in the image. Further away the antenna is from the PCB, better the performance.
