Z-Axis clearance for SR4L034-L

We need to place other PCB board above the PCB board where SR4L034-L is mounted. How much clearance is required for Z-Axis (Minimum height for other PCB board above SR4L034-L) for SR4L034-L Antenna for best performance.

Hi,

It depends what is on the board above. If it's solid copper or fully populated with components, this will block radiation and may cause reflections. If the board is bare FR4 above the SR4L034, then just a few mm gap is ok. As general rule, 10-15mm is ok provided you don't need antenna radiation in that zone. Can you give me a little more detail on the layout of the board above?

Many Thanks

Hi Steve,

The top board above SR4L034-L will have sensor ICs and components.

Hi,

If these components are directly above the antenna, then you should keep as much distance as your mechanical limitations will allow. Also it would depend on your performance requirements and if you require any certification. I've contacted you directly, with your regional representative on copy, to get some more specific detail on how your device is/can be configured.

Many Thanks

Steve
