QUESTION

asked by
Ceramic Antenna for Wifi+Bluetooth

Dear Sirs,

My name is Agustin Cruz. We are a company from Chile. We are designing our products using ESP32 microcontrollers.

We are making a very compact size product with Wifi+Bluetooth. We need to use a ceramic antenna and a UFL connector for an external antenna. Please, look the following pictures to get an idea.

We are in the design stage of a circuit, and we would like to evaluate your ceramic antennas in our application. We wonder if you offer tunning service if we use your antenna, to help us to choose the right capacitor and inductor values. Abracon offers this service for free, but we are more interested in a smaller antenna

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Agustin Cruz

Many thanks!

Hi Augustin,

We have a range of Ceramic antennas for WiFi, which are extremely compact by making use of a small PCBA trace. Weii (SRCW004) would be a good fit for this application

We do offer a tuning service, standard charge is $500 for our ceramic 2.4GHz antenna, however your regional Sales representative can help you with more detail on this.

We are always keen to engage with our customers as early as possible in their design process and also offer a free design review service to help you integrate our products to get the best possible performance.

Many Thanks

Many thanks Steve,
We need some help with the antenna trace and choosing some initial values for PI circuit.
There is a simple (free) simulation software to choose the initial values of the PI circuit and trace the PCB?
Thanks again for your help

Hi Augustin,

The antenna trace is prescribed in section 9-2 of the data sheet.

For the matching component values, I would recommend tuning by return-loss measurement. I'm not aware of any free simulation software, and even the best paid software only may get you close to optimum values. I've asked your Regional Sales to get in touch with more information on how we can support you directly.

Many Thanks

Many thanks Steve
Can we use any common standard 0402 capacitors and inductor for the antenna tunning? Or need special components for the antenna?
Many thanks

Hi Augustin,

We use LQG15 Inductors and GJM15 Capacitors (Murata) as standard, equivalents may be used provided they have similar RF characteristics.

Many Thanks

Steve
