Microstrip and Co-planar Waveguide Grounded (GCPW or CPWG) are both proven high-frequency host PCB structures. However, Antenova recommends Co-Planar Waveguide Grounded (GCPW). This is mainly because it keeps the feed best isolated from any interference. GCPW is able to do this because there are always RF grounds between traces. Another advantage of GCPW is that compared to microstrip, it has a low inductance for shunt elements. This is because the RF ground is already there and you don’t need to drill a hole for it.
