SINICA vs BELTI on a small 50x30mm PCB

Hi guys,

I’ve been redesigning this PCB for a while, it’s a 50x30mm rectangular PCB with the reserved antenna space from the edge to the center of the long edge. This PCB will be used on a case, so case tunning will be required.

Sinica antenna seems the have the performance quite degraded at 40mm edge size, but Beltii seem to have a relatively small GND size requirements so will it be a better option? For what it seems on the forum, Beltii is not being recommended for these small applications…

Bear in mind we’re already running a gnss LNA and SAW filter.

Thanks for the support,

Jorge G.

Hi Jorge,

Sinica will work better than Beltii in this case, Beltii is designed for use where it is not possible to have a clearance area. On a 50mm length PCB you must place the antenna as central as possible on this edge for the best performance.

Many Thanks

Steve
